Day 44

Black Lake

Very pleasant day, cool but sunny. Up late and then had bread, butter and jam for breakfast, its the small things that one misses. I caught up with this journal, and John the maps for the last time. We then walked back along the sand spit, it has some great camping places but obviously from the amount of rubbish everywhere they are much used.

After lunch I read “Sleeping Island” and having just travelled over much of the same country it gives you a real sense of inclusion. It also makes you wish we had talked more with John Albrecht back in the La Ronge days. John is also reading a book about canoeing in this part of Canada. This afternoon the air became very smoky we could no longer see the other side of the lake. We sat around our last camp fire tonight and had more hot dogs. We were in the tent by 9pm, it doesn’t feel as cold tonight.
